Om Byregion Østjylland
Metropolområdet består af 19 kommuner. I byregionen samarbejdes der på tværs af kommunale grænser for at fastholde og udvikle området som ét af Danmarks to førende vækstcentre med gennemslagskraft i Nordeuropa.
Dette indebærer at der samarbejdes med Staten om at udvikle området i den rigtige retning, så en fælles kordineret indsats vil kunne bære frugt også i fremtiden.
Metropolen ligger plaseret i 2 forskellige politisk styrede regioner, Region Midtjylland og Syddanmark. Den største befolkningsgruppe ligger i Region Midtjylland som bidrager med 1 mio indbyggere til det samlede knap 1.4 mio.
Området består også af to i forvejen stærke spillere, Aarhus området (Business Region Aarhus) med 960.000 indbyggere og Trekanstområdet som består af følgende kommuner Vejle-Kolding-Fredericia-Middelfart-Haderslev-Vejen og Billund. Dette område har tilsammen 418.000 indbyggere.
Den mest befolkede kommune er Aarhus der bidrager med mere end 330.000 indbyggere, og den mindst befolkede kommune er Samsø kommune med knap 4.000 indbyggere.
Den største kommune arealmæssigt er Viborg der fylder 1,409 km², den mindste er Samsø kommune på 115 km².
Alt i alt er det tale om meget forskellige kommuner målt på areal og befolkningstal, kerneområdet fra Randers over Aarhus til Kolding er tætbefolket, mens yderområderne som Djursland og den sydvestlige del af byregionen har en forholdshvis lav befolkningstæthed.

About East jutland metro area
The metropolitan area consists of 19 municipalities. In the urban region there is collaboration across municpall boundaries to maintain and develop the area as one of Denmark's two leading growth centers and to gain more impact in Northern Europe.
This means cooperation with the Danish State to develop the area in the right direction, a common effort for the future.
The metropolis is located in 2 different politically controlled regions, Central Denmark Region and Southern Denmark, the largest population group is located in Region Midtjylland, contributing with 1 mio inhabitants of the total 1.4 million.
The area also consists of two already strong players, the Aarhus area (Business Region Aarhus) with 960,000 inhabitants and the Triangle Region which consists of the following municipalities Vejle-Kolding-Fredericia-Middelfart-Haderslev-Vejen and Billund. This area has a total of 418,000 inhabitants.
The most populated municipality is the city of Aarhus contributing with 330,000 inhabitants, and the least populated municipality is Samsø municipality with 4,000 inhabitants.
The largest municipality in terms of km² is Viborg with 1,409 km², and the smallest is Samsø municipality 115 km².
The core area from Randers to Aarhus to Kolding is densely populated, while peripheral areas as Djursland and the southwestern part of the region are more rural.
